Truth Be Told: Black History Is…
Rooted in shared memories of porch songs, ancestral stories, and the brilliance of Black ingenuity, this production presents Black history not as a distant past, but as a living, breathing legacy—passed lovingly from one generation to the next. At a time when dominant narratives attempt to flatten the Black experience into a single story, our elders step forward as storytellers and guides. Through their memories, we witness the depth, complexity, and beauty of Black life—told not through despair or loss, but through triumph, resilience, and joy in the face of continual challenge. Their victories become lessons. And their presence offers direction for the generations rising behind them.
Truth Be Told: Black History Is… invites audiences to remember, reflect, and leave renewed—carrying forward a legacy that refuses to be boxed in and continues to rise.
