The Studio is Arts In Blue's home for dance training and creative discovery. We provide high-quality instruction for young people ages 3–18, from students taking their very first class to young creatives preparing for more advanced and pre-professional opportunities. Our goal is bigger than learning steps, we use the performing arts to inspire, educate, and communicate through joy, while helping students develop discipline, confidence, creativity, community, and a strong sense of who they are.

The Studio welcomes students ages 3–18. Students are grouped according to age, experience, developmental readiness, and ability so they can be challenged while still having the space and support they need to grow.

Not at all! We welcome beginners as well as students with previous training. We believe every student has something to discover, and our teaching artists work to meet students where they are while encouraging them toward what is possible.

Based on a student's age and class placement, training may include Ballet, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, African, Caribbean Dance, Musical Theater, and other forms of movement and performance. We believe exposure to multiple disciplines helps students become stronger, more versatile artists while discovering the forms of expression that speak most powerfully to them.

Students are placed according to a combination of age, ability, experience, and readiness. For some students, placement may include an evaluation by our artistic team. Placement is not about rushing students into the next level — it is about making sure each young creative is in an environment where they can safely develop, be challenged, and experience meaningful growth.

We care deeply about excellent artistic training, but we are equally interested in who our students are becoming through the training. Students learn technique, discipline, professionalism, collaboration, responsibility, and how to communicate through their artistry. Our classes are rooted in Creativity, Professionalism, Community, and Joy — the values that guide how we teach, learn, work, and grow together.

Our students train with professional performing artists and teaching artists who bring their experiences from classrooms, professional stages, companies, productions, and creative spaces into The Studio. We believe young people benefit from learning from artists who understand both the craft and the responsibility of passing what they have learned to the next generation.

No. Some students simply love to dance. Others are developing confidence, coordination, discipline, and friendships. And some discover that they want to pursue performing arts high schools, colleges, conservatories, or professional careers. There is room for all of those journeys at Arts In Blue.

We ask students to come ready to learn, work, explore, and contribute. That means arriving on time, wearing the appropriate dance attire, listening to instructors, respecting classmates and the Studio environment, and giving their best effort. We do not expect perfection. We do expect participation, commitment, respect, and a willingness to grow.

Yes. Proper dance attire is an important part of training and helps instructors safely see alignment, movement, and technique. Uniform and shoe requirements vary by class and level. Families receive specific information about what their student needs after registration and placement.

Consistency matters. Dance training builds from week to week, and rehearsals require students to work together. We understand that illness, family emergencies, and unexpected situations happen. Families should notify Arts In Blue when a student will be absent. Frequent absences may affect a student's progress, class placement, or participation in performances.

Absolutely! Performance is an important part of The Studio experience. Throughout the year, students may have opportunities to share their work through Arts In Blue productions, Community Performances, and our annual culminating dance concert. Performing gives students the opportunity to take what they have practiced in the classroom and experience the responsibility, excitement, teamwork, and joy of bringing that work to an audience.

Because performance is part of our training process, families should expect students to participate in scheduled rehearsals and performances associated with their classes. We communicate important dates in advance so families can plan accordingly.

Some performances require costumes, shoes, accessories, tickets, or other production-related expenses that are separate from tuition. Families will receive information about anticipated costs, payment dates, and performance requirements as early as possible.

To help students develop independence and allow instructors to maintain a focused learning environment, parents generally do not remain inside the classroom during regular instruction. Throughout the year, we create opportunities for families to witness, celebrate, and experience what students have been working toward.

Be their biggest supporter. Encourage them to attend consistently, arrive prepared, take responsibility for their belongings, practice when appropriate, and keep going when something becomes challenging. Families are an important part of Arts In Blue. When students know that their teachers and families are working together, they are better positioned to flourish.

Communication is important to us. If you have a concern about your child's class or experience, please reach out to the Arts In Blue team rather than attempting to resolve classroom matters during instructional time. We believe concerns should be handled respectfully, thoughtfully, and with the shared goal of creating the best possible experience for the student.

Students should arrive with their required dance attire and shoes, a water bottle, and any other items identified for their classes. Students who will be with us for an extended day should also bring an appropriate lunch and/or snack. Specific food and safety guidelines are shared with registered families.

Registration for The Studio is available through the Arts In Blue website. Once registered, families will receive additional information regarding placement, class schedules, attire, tuition, important dates, and preparing for the season.
